HGAC is moving forward
and growing in many ways. Many creative fundraising ideas have been introduced and we would like our membership to share in
these new and exciting initiatives. One fundraiser HGAC is pursuing is the 2013 Special Collectors Edition Barn Calendar.
This unique calendar will feature the barns in our Adams County Historic Barn Registry. What a perfect way to celebrate Gettysburg’s
Sesquicentennial Event! These calendars would make a perfect gift for that Civil War enthusiast, history buff, or that special
someone as well as for yourself. Another future fundraiser in the works is the Preservation Barn/Restoration House Tours.
We hope to visit and enjoy the history and beauty of touring the homes and barns of our house restoration and barn award recipients.
A tour of Log Barns is already scheduled for Saturday, September 17, 2012, so mark your calendars and more information will
be announced at a later date on www.hgaconline.org. HGAC is sponsoring a fundraiser on Saturday, May 19, 2012, the same
day as the Gettysburg Antique Fair at the Architectural Salvage Warehouse located on Washington Street between Chambersburg
Street and Middle Street in Gettysburg. The Salvage Warehouse currently stores items such as old windows, shutters, paneled
Civil War era doors, as well as vintage lighting fixtures and door hinges. Additional donations for this
special event by our members would be appreciated. Please contact Regina Hollar at 717-334-8312 or at hollar63@yahoo.com. More information will be announced at a later date or check www.hgaconline.org This past year’s Civil War Period Barn Dance was a huge success! Mark your calendar and join
us on October 6, 2012 for our next barn dance. Come and grace the dance floor to the period music of the 2nd South
Carolina String Band along with dance masters Norma Calhoun and Wayne Belt as they lead everyone through the steps of popular
period dances. Ham and bean soup, snacks, food and drinks will be served, and fall decorations will adorn the distinguished
Shord barn in Orrtanna. Help from member volunteers is greatly appreciated for these and future fundraisers. If you
have any new ideas for fundraising that you would like to share with us and/or would like to help organize, set-up, clean-up,
contact volunteers, bake, etc., for any of our fundraisers, please contact Grace. Thank you all!
